Chapter 6: I Found You

“Why do I have to come along Teddy, and who is this girl anyway?” asks Mike.

“Come on buddy, you know I am not that good with girls, help me out a bit” says Teddy.

“So why here in the hospital? Is she a doctor? A nurse? Whats with those flowers?” Mike asks Teddy as they enter the hospital.

“I will explain later, for now just come with me, I can’t do this alone” Teddy replies.

The two men enter the hospital and proceed towards a private room. They both stop at the door and Teddy takes a deep breath. Inside Chelsea suddenly sits up and looks at the door. Emily looks at Chelsea then likewise looks at the door.

“What’s with the door Chel?” asks Emily.

“I can feel him” Chelsea softly utters and her eyes are filled with excitement.

The door suddenly opens and Teddy enters the room. They stare at each other and their heartbeats begin to race. Teddy is frozen once more as he looks at Chelsea; Mike enters the room and recognizes Emily.

“Hey, we live in the same building, were in 404, you are in 405 right?” Mike says out loud.

“Oh yeah I remember you, the day when we arrived I saw you” Emily replies.

Mike and Emily suddenly focus their attention on Teddy as he walks towards Chelsea. Teddy lays the flowers on the bedside table but keeping his stare on Chelsea. Chelsea reaches for Teddy’s hands and she notices the bruises on them. She looks at Teddy’s face and sees his cut lip.

“You were the one that saved me” Chelsea exclaims as Mike and Emily look on.

“It’s because I heard you calling for me” Teddy reveals as he gets closer.

Suddenly flashbacks of past memories begin to fill both of their minds. Their first ever kiss when they were living, the last kiss before they departed, their first kiss in the afterlife and their final moments as they were about to be reborn.

“Paul” whispers Chelsea as tears begin to gather in her eyes.

“Yes Jenny, I found you like what I promised, I found you” he tells her and he kisses her on the lips.

Both of them hug tightly as their lips are intertwined by a kiss of destiny. Mike and Emily are in shock as they look at their two friends.

“Hey is there something I should know here?” asks Emily.

“They just met did they? So do you think we have to follow what they are doing?” Mike jokingly asks Emily.

“Shut up!” exclaims Emily as they watch on.

Chelsea was discharged that day and they all gathered in the living room of apartment 405. Chelsea was beside Teddy as the two could not be separated since living the hospital. Sitting across them were Mike and Emily still confused about the sudden relationship of the two.

“Hey I don’t get it, tell us the story” says Mike.

“Yeah, you call him Paul yet his name is Teddy, he calls you Jenny yet you are Chelsea. Its really confusing you know” utters Emily.

“I have been telling you about Paul for a long time but you wont listen to me, he is the person in my dreams, the reason why I cannot sleep at nights” Chelsea reveals.

“Ever since we moved here I always wondered why my dreams changed too, I slept better, but my recent dreams you were there so close within my reach. Who would have known you live next door” says Teddy as he begins to laugh.

“You never listen to me, I told you that day there were hot ladies but you ignored me” Mike recalls and begins to make a sour face.

“But I don’t believe it, dreams are dreams, tell us the real story now” Emily begs them as she sits back and look at the two.

“It’s going to sound ridiculous actually so let me just ask you, if you have someone you love then you were given two choices, first get separated forever or both of you being reborn again to different bodies, which would you choose?” asks Teddy.

Mike thinks hard and says “Of course I would choose the latter since there is a probability that you would still meet each other, although I should say a very low probability at that”.

“Yeah I would choose the same too, although how about the memories and being reborn means a clean slate of mind am I right? So are you saying that you grew up having your past memories?” asks Emily.

“No, I grew up as Chelsea, but in my dreams every day since I could remember Paul was always there, I was reaching out to him but I could not reach him. I always wake up searching for him as if I was living my dream” Chelsea discloses and she looks at Teddy and smiles at him.

“That day we moved here I felt something special about this place that’s why I chose this place even though it was expensive. For the first time in my life I asked for money from my parents. I knew I had to stay here. Last week in restaurant I knew you were there, I felt you. In the park that evening I felt you too” says Chelsea as she looks at Teddy.

“I too felt a wonderful chill about this place. Last week too when we ate lunch as I entered the restaurant I could feel you close. That night in the park I looked for you, I went around but I wasn’t able to find you. And two nights ago I was sleeping, I heard you calling me, so I rushed towards where you were. I just ran and ran, I don’t know how but I found you” Teddy softly recalls.

“But I wasn’t raped or hurt” exclaims Chelsea.

“Yeah I got there on time, I took care of the three guys, I don’t even know how to fight but I was able to hurt them badly. It is as if my body was moving on its own. I was filled with anger, but when I saw you I could not think of anything else so I rushed you to the hospital” Teddy discloses.

“Ok ok I get it already. I thought Chelsea was acting strange about those dream stuff, and lately she smiles suddenly out of the blue so I thought she was being inhabited by the devil” says Emily.

“Oh no, Paul is the devil” Chelsea replies and Mike and Emily are startled and look at Teddy.

“Jesus Christ, no wonder you love setting things on fire. My best buddy is a demon, hey can I see your tail or your mighty fork, where is the fork?” Mike jokingly asks as the room is filled with laughter.

“She isn’t joking you know. In the afterlife I was a demon, I mean an inhabitant of the army of Darkness, Chelsea…I mean Jenny was with the force of light or you could say she was an angel” Teddy reveals.

“Now I am confused, I have to sleep now, hey Teddy don’t burn this apartment okay? Chelsea no flying since you’re an angel” says Emily as she walks towards her room.

“Me too, let me leave you two for a while, Teddy you have to show me that fork” whispers Mike as he heads out the room.

The reunited couple head towards the balcony and holding hands they look up at the sky.

“So now that we found each other where shall we go from here?” asks Chelsea as she leans her head on Teddy’s shoulders.

“Well, lets leave the past behind us and start all over again” Teddy replies and he looks at Chelsea and say “Hi my name is Teddy”.

Chelsea looks at Teddy and smiles at him. “Hello, I am Chelsea”.

Chapter 5: Two Hearts Calling

“Chel wake up! Chel! We are going to be late for the interview!” shouts Emily.

“Oh I overslept again, ever since we moved here I sleep well” says Chelsea as she rises from her bed.

The two ladies hurry to get dressed and leave for their job interviews. In the other room the two men just woke up. They too hurry to get refreshed and dressed for this is the first day of their work. As soon as they finish they rush towards the elevator.

“Hey Mike, thanks” says Teddy in a soft voice.

“Thanks for what?” asks Mike.

“Well for everything, for this place, for getting me a job, thanks” utters Teddy.

“Geez man no time for being dramatic, how many times have you saved me back then? Hey we are going to succeed no matter what okay?” Mike says and the doors of the elevator open and they quickly walk towards the main door. Teddy stops and heads towards the manager and says “Sir, I don’t know what magic your building has but I do enjoy my sleep every night”.

“Really now? You are the second one to tell me that today, I wonder if I should advertise that so I could increase the rent” answered the manager.

“Oh forget what I said, I have to go, sorry” says Teddy as he runs and catches up with Mike who is about to enter his car.

Mike was employed in big company because of his skills. Mike recommended Teddy to the company but at first they refused since Teddy’s records were not that impressive. Mike then told the company that it was a package deal, so the company took them both in; Mike worked in the system administration section while Teddy was assigned in clerical duties and deliveries. Teddy did not complain since among all the companies he tried to apply this was the only one that took him in, he did not know about the deal Mike made with the company.

It was already lunch time and the two ladies were eating in a nearby restaurant. They were celebrating for they both found jobs that would start the next day. As they were enjoying their food the two men enter the same restaurant and Teddy suddenly freezes.

“Hey Teddy what’s wrong with you, let’s go seat, and your blocking the entrance” says Mike.

“You know what Mike, I feel a rush in my body just now, something really good inside me” aswers Teddy as he slowly follows Mike.

“Hey Chel, what are you smiling about again?” cries Emily. But Chelsea does not answer but she keeps on smiling. She suddenly rises from her chair and looks around the restaurant, she then looks outside the window but she does not know who she is looking for.

“Mike, I can feel Jenny, yes it’s the same feeling in my dreams, and she is nearby Mike” Teddy gleefully utters.

“Jenny! Jenny! Jenny! Quit it Teddy, so if she does exist then try calling out for her, use telepathy or heart magic, let’s see if something will happen” Mike exclaims.

“Did you hear that, someone was calling my name” declares Chelsea as she arises from her seat again looking around.

“Will you sit down; I heard it was Jenny, not Chelsea!” Emily says as she pulls her friend to sit down.

“You don’t understand, that’s the name Paul calls me in my dreams, he calls me Jenny” Chelsea tells Emily.

That evening Teddy went to the park to unwind as Mike headed to the apartment. In the girls’ room Chelsea walks towards the door and says “Hey Emily I’m going to the park I won’t take long I just want to unwind a bit!” and she hurries out.

Chelsea sat on a bench on the North part of the park while Teddy was on the south part. Both of them suddenly felt the same sensation just like during lunchtime. Both of them stand at the same time and smile, they start to walk around the park in search for each other. They were both going separate paths, Chelsea was going towards the south, and Teddy was heading for the north part. As Chelsea reaches the bench where Teddy sat she sits down and decides to wait instead. Teddy on the other hand reaches the North part and finds no one there so he decides to walk back towards the south. Ten minutes has passed and Chelsea looks up towards the sky and says “Paul, maybe it’s not yet time for us to meet” and she heads back towards the apartment.

A minute later Teddy reaches the bench where he was sitting on a while ago and sits down.

“Jenny please wait for me, I know I will find you, please wait for me”.

One week later on a dark foggy night Chelsea walks home. She has been working since nine in morning; it is already past nine in the evening. She is cold and hungry, her eyes are already heavy and she is barely dragging her feet towards their apartment. Just three blocks more she says to herself since she is feeling really weak already. In room 404 Teddy is soundly asleep while Mike is watching tv. Emily on the other room is getting ready for bed but still wondering where her friend is.

Two blocks away Chelsea walks then out of the darkness three men grab her. They cover her mouth and carry her towards a dark alley. She is too weak to fight them off but she still tries. The men pin her down on the ground as one man gags her mouth, the other holds her down as the other one starts undressing her. She cannot scream, she cannot fight back, and her only hope she calls out for Paul to save her. She screams Paul’s name in her mind continuously then she falls unconscious.

Chelsea opens her eyes and she looks around. She sees Emily asleep on a couch; she sits up and feels her body.

“Where am I?” she blurts out.

“Oh you are awake already, we are in a hospital dummy” answers Emily.

“Hospital? But it seems nothing happened to me, but I was about to be raped!” exclaims Chelsea.

“Relax, someone saved you, he even beat up those three guys, then he rushed you here. The hospital called me since I was your contact person. The doctor said you are just dehydrated.” Emily states.

“Who saved me? Where is he? What’s his name? Did you see him?” asks Chelsea.

“Sorry, but when I got here he already left. But he did stay for an hour said the nurse” says Emily.

Chelsea lays down and closes her eyes and begins to smile again.

Chapter 4: The Person In My Dreams

“Wow this is a great apartment building Mike, I think I will not be able to afford to stay here” says Teddy.

“Don’t worry about a thing my friend, without you I would not have lived through college life, so consider this as payback” Mike says as he shuts the door of his car.

“Its not fair, I have to shelve out some, I need to get a job soon” says Teddy as they both walk towards the building.

The two enter the building and proceed to the manager’s office.

“Excuse me sir, we were the ones who called up yesterday about the apartment for two” says Mike.

“Oh yes, let me show you to your apartment, I’ve been expecting you” says Mister Garrison.

The three of them enter the elevator and the manager presses the number 4 buttons. As they reach the fourth floor they walk towards room 404 Teddy suddenly stops and smiles.

“Hey Teddy whats the matter?” asks Mike.

“Oh nothing, I just felt something good is about to happen” answers Teddy as he joins them.

The manager opens the door to the apartment they enter. There are two rooms and one bathroom, a decent kitchen and a small dining area.

“Wow, this is better than our home, I really should get a job” whispers Teddy.

“So the finances have been settled by your father, if you have any problems just call or go to my office below. I do hope you enjoy your stay” says mister Garrison as he hands over the keys to Mike then leaves.

“What does he mean the finances have been settled?” asks Teddy.

“My dad paid for everything, so you don’t have to worry about it. Now lets settle down and have a look around the city later” says Mike.

One block away Chelsea and Emily are walking in search of a place to stay.

“I really don’t understand you Chelsea, your parents are rich but you don’t ask them for anything, If I were you I asked them for a decent car, no make that an SUV, then some money to start my business. Hey Chelsea are you listening to me?” says Emily as she looks back at Chelsea.

Chelsea was standing still staring at the Garrison Apartment building.

“Hey what are you staring at?” asks Emily.

“Emily, we should stay here in this building” says Chelsea.

“Are you crazy?! Look at that building it looks expensive, come on I think I see something we can afford over there” says Emily.

“No, we will stay here, let me borrow your cellphone I have to call my dad” she says.

“Oh sure, its about time you asked for something. Hmmm this place is sweet. Go on hurry call him so we can settle in at once” says Emily as she hands her phone to Chelsea.

The two ladies proceed inside the building towards the manager’s office. Meanwhile on the balcony of room 404.

“Hey Teddy, you should have seen the two ladies that just when in the building, they are hot, but I find one of them weird since she was staring at the building for a long time” says Mike.

“Sorry I am not interested with women, I already have someone” utters Teddy.

“What? You have been keeping secrets from me? Hey I am your best bud right? So who is she?” asks Mike.

“I told you about her before don’t you remember?” says Teddy.

“Oh, that dream girl of yours again, Jenny right? So she still haunts you every night in your sleep?” asks Mike.

“Yeah, but lately she calls me Paul in my dreams. Im starting to wonder if I ever lived before, maybe I was Paul in another life. It would be cool if I was a knight or a noble prince” says Teddy as he relaxes his body on the couch.

“Yeah and I wonder if they had geeks before, then I would have been Merlin the Magician, hey get up lets go for a stroll” says Mike.

“Go ahead, I feel sleepy all of a sudden, but I don’t know why I feel excited about something too, maybe I will just take a nap. Don’t mind me just go, I will be fine here” Teddy replied.

Mike walks out of their apartment and along the corridor he sees the two ladies being led by the manager to room 405. Mike walks towards the elevator and the two ladies enter the room.

“Ok ladies, here is your room, if you have any problems please do call me or visit me at my office below” says the manager and he leaves them behind. Chelsea sat on the couch and just froze for a moment.

“Hey Chel, are you alright?” asks Emily.

Chelsea started to smile and said “Emily I feel Paul is in New York, I don’t know where but I can feel him nearby”

“Paul who? Do I know him? A childhood crush? Don’t tell me he is your lover!” utters Emily.

“Lover?...He is the person in my dreams. Hey lets go for a walk I am hungry” says Chelsea as she begins to smile all of a sudden.

“Then you are smiling out of nowhere, the next thing I know you are going to kill me in my sleep, stop acting psycho Chel you are giving me the creeps!” shouts Emily as they both end up laughing.

Teddy awakes from a short nap and goes to the balcony, he stares at the sky thinking of the girl in his dreams. At the main door of the building the two ladies step out to take a walk. Chelsea suddenly stops and turns around, she looks up at the balcony where Teddy is but the sun is too bright so she cannot clearly see him. At the same moment Teddy feels a sudden chill around his body, he suddenly smiles.

“Chel! What are you doing staring at the sun like that?” asks Emily.

“Emily, look at him, he has red hair, like the man in my dreams” Chelsea softly utters.

“Are you nuts? Its just the sun alright? Come on lets go I am hungry” says Emily and the two walk along but Chelsea keeps looking back at the man in the balcony.

“You are right, its just the sun, silly me” she says and she suddenly smiles.

Teddy looks down to where Chelsea was and sees no one, he looks at the sky again and sighs.

“Jenny I am already here, where are you?” he softly whispers towards the sky then he goes back inside to sleep. “Maybe I will see you in my dreams”.
